Obituary for Karan DeKraker

Karan DeKraker, loving mother and grandmother, passed away on February 23, 2021, at the age of 77. Karan was born in Wyoming, MI to Benjamin and Mildred Kennedy. Karan’s pride and joy were her daughters and their families: Cheryl and Brad Bjerke, parents of Alex (22) and Lauren (20); Cindy and Jim Green, parents of Kurt (22) and Jake (20). She is also survived by 4 brothers, 3 sisters, and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

One of Karan’s greatest passions was preparing delicious home-cooked meals for family and friends. She loved the holidays and made sure they were filled with good food. (Her bread and pies were out of this world!) Karan had a generous heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand. She enjoyed reading, listening to music, and playing the piano. Karan will be remembered for her loyalty, honesty, strong work ethic, for being a good listener, being a woman of her word, and for the respect she always showed others. Above all, she will be remembered with a deep and profound love by her grandchildren!

Karan was a strong woman of faith who peacefully went home with Jesus shortly after a cancer diagnosis. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2021 from 2:00-5:00 at Davison-Fulton-Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home on Willow Knolls Drive in Peoria. Donations in remembrance of Karan can be made to the Richard L. Owens Hospice Home on route 91 or the food pantry at Mt. Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church on Hanssler Place in Peoria.

The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. Pekin/Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at csmico.com
