Obituary for Julia Owens
Julia Owens, 91, of Farmington formerly of Peoria passed away Monday, April 29, 2013 at her residence. She was born July 16, 1921 in Canton, IL to Phillip and Josephine Koval Stopa. She married Frank “Red” Owens May 12, 1937. He preceded her in death in 1985, she was also preceded in death by her parents and four sisters and three brothers. She is survived by her daughters, Mary J. Rife of Farmington, Patricia A. Fleming of Peoria; son, Frank W. (Margo) Owens of Sebring, FL; special niece, Betty E. Gill of Homer Glen, IL; ten grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; fifteen great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Julia was an active member of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She loved to go to City Bus Depot in Peoria and talk to people about the Bible. She was looking forward to living in a cleansed Earth. She also enjoyed camping and spending time with family and friends. She worked for Caterpillar and L.R. Nelson, retiring in 1966. Cremation has been accorded and a memorial service will be held Sunday, May 12, at 4:30 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness 6007 N. Big Hollow Road in Peoria. Shawn Reeves will officiate. Memorials may be made to the Farmington Fire Department in her name.
