Obituary for Joyce E. Arteaga
Joyce E. Arteaga, 76, of Kingston Mines passed away Monday, January 29, 2024, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
She was born May 23, 1947, in Pekin to Richard and Matha R. Griggs Hedge.
She married J. Guadalupe Arteaga December 6, 1968; he preceded her in death May 27, 1975. Her parents; infant son, Jose G. Arteaga; sister, Claudia Tinney; niece, Gail Stanfill Inman and beloved dachshund, Oscar also preceded her in death.
She is survived by her son, Guadalupe Arteaga; daughter, Estella (Bernardo Hernandez) Arteaga and two brothers.
Joyce retired from Bel-Wood Nursing Home.
She was an active volunteer within her community throughout her life. She loved animals, especially her pets.
Per her wishes cremation has been accorded and no services will be held. She will be buried in Kingston Mines Cemetery next to her husband.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Tazewell Animal Protective Society (TAPS) 100 TAPS Lane, Pekin, IL 61554 in her memory.
