Obituary for Joseph L. Frakes
Joseph L. Frakes, 83, of Creve Coeur, IL passed away Sunday, December 10, 2023, at Carle Health Methodist in Peoria, IL.
He was born July 28, 1940, in Colchester, IL to John and Mary Gann Frakes. His parents; son, Joey Frakes; brothers, John Frakes, David Frakes and sister, Rosalie Hill preceded him in death.
He married Julie M. Schmitt on July 29, 1981, in Pekin, IL; she survives. He is also survived by his children, Virginia Frakes, Kathryn “Katy” (Darold) Richardson, Wendell (Pete) Frakes, Michelle Frakes, Jimmy Willis (surrogate son); twenty grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and siblings, Betty (Carl) Pierson and Mary Robertson.
Joseph worked as a truck driver, retiring in 2002. He traveled over one million miles and received an award for that.
He loved his family. He never knew a stranger and was a very humble man. Joseph was a musician for the Beck Brothers and Cristy Lane Band. He was a drummer for many local bands, he recorded at Golden Voice Music Studio in Pekin.
Cremation has been accorded and a memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at 6:30 p.m. with visitation starting at 4 p.m. at Encounter Church 800 Springfield Road, East Peoria, IL 61611.
