Obituary for Joseph Irv Schackler
Joseph “Irv” Schackler 88, of Pekin passed away on Saturday August 2, 2008 at Hallmark House in Pekin. Born in Chicago on June 29, 1920, the son of Michael and Hermine Pamper Papal. He married Monnette C. Higgins in Fairfield Ca, on April 1, 1943, she preceded him in death on February 4, 2004 along with a grand daughter Vicki Kerby. Irv is survived by his daughters; Donna (Dick) Weghorst of Pekin, Kathryn Kavanagh of Denver, CO, Mary Alice (Michael) Kirby of Ft. Worth, TX, grandchildren; Michele Krusa, Michael Weghorst, Cheri Montgomery, Lisa Robinson, Nicole Dawson, Damon Brown, Judy Flora, Thomas Kirby, Steven Kirby, great grandchildren; Mariah Weghorst, Perry Montgomery, Zac Montgomery, Jenna Weghorst, Maya Dawson, Elliott Dawson, Alex Kirby, Christian Smith, Cameron Flora, Morgan Flora, Grace Kirby, Madelyn Kirby, Noah Kirby and Torri Kirby. He served in the Army Air Force during WWII and was a Truck Driver for Ruan and Knapper and became a Tazewell Co. Deputy Sheriff in 1965. He loved to travel and he was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin where a funeral mass will be held for him on Wednesday Aug 6, at 10 a.m. Father Timothy Nolan will officiate and burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin. Visitation will be at Abts Mortuary on Tuesday from 5 to 7 with a wake service at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or St. Jude. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Abts Mortuary.
