John Woodford Snyder was born, at home, on May 28, 1938 in Mason City, Illinois. He took his final breath on December 27, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loved ones in Pekin, Illinois. He had 12 siblings, 3 children, 6 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
John proudly served in the 101st Airborne Division of the United States Army.
He enjoyed fishing, camping and being around his kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. John was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and was ecstatic to see them finally win the World Series.
Every time he helped someone it was the last time. . but he never stopped helping most anyone who needed it. He always thought of others first and himself last. When he passed, there were no words of wisdom needing to be left behind; his resilience, selflessness, and faith were reflected in the way he lived his life.
There will not be a memorial service per John’s request. In his very direct approach to communication, he said, “If you wanted to see me, you should have seen me when I was alive. I don’t need people looking at me when I’m dead.” & we know he meant it!
A spring celebration of life will be held to honor our father.
The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. Pekin/Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at csmico.com
