Obituary for John Weis
John Peter Weis Jr. 83, of Pekin died Saturday January 15, 2011 in Barron, WI. He was born on October 15, 1927 in Evanston, IL to John P. and Marie Butzen Weis. He married Barbara R. Brezinski on November 26, 1949. She survives. They were blessed with 11 children. Surviving are Mary K. (Tom) Wise of Kingman, AZ, Christine M. (Timothy Osner) Doetsch of Melvin Village, NH, Susan J. (George) Marcopoulos of Northfield, IL, James P. (Debby) Weis of Manito, IL, Joseph P. (Patty) Weis of North Pekin, IL, Jeffrey P. Weis of Pekin, IL, Barbara A. Weis of Pekin, IL, Elizabeth A. (Jerry) Singleton of South Pekin, IL, and Margaret M. (Tim) Tower of Eau Claire, WI. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Surviving siblings include Edward (Sevena) Weis of Waynesboro, GA, Peter (Judy) Weis of Glenview, IL, Mary Ann King of Lakeville, MN, Patricia Miller of Wilmette, IL, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son John P. Weis III, daughter Julie Weis, two grandchildren and his brother Charles Weis of Wheeling, IL. John attended school in Wilmette, IL. At age 13, he worked for his dad at a Sinclair Gas Station in Niles Center, IL. He served in the Army during WWII. In 1948, he met Barbara his “Polish Princess” and love of his life. John was a very successful businessman for over 55 years. His career as a Garbage man began in the mid 1950’s as owner of Depend-On, Reliance and Ability Disposal Companies in Chicago, IL. In 1973 he started JB Disposal in Pekin, IL. John retired in December 2001 and spent his remaining years in Pekin, IL and Northern WI. He was a member of the Amvets, Eagles and Elks. John made friends wherever he went and his long-lived friendships were valued for life. He enjoyed life and loved to talk about it. John- Your family and friends will deeply miss you. You will never be forgotten. John was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin, IL, were a funeral mass will be held on Saturday January 22, at 11 a.m. Father Timothy Nolan will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin, IL, following the service. Visitation will be at Abts Mortuary in Pekin, IL, on Friday January 21, from 4 to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made in his name to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
