Obituary for John Rathbun
John Rathbun, 65, of Peoria, passed away peacefully at 7:15 pm, Thursday, January 13, 2022, at his home.
John was born March 28, 1956, in Fairbury, IL, the son of Nowlan and Mattie Groves Rathbun.
He married Sandy M. Hanstedt on May 6, 2006, in Spring Bay, IL; she survives.
Also surviving are his brother, Terry (Phyllis) Rathbun of Tucson, AZ; his three stepchildren; six step grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Herb Rathbun.
John enjoyed fishing, golfing, and was an excellent pool player. He was active in the Fairbury Jaycees and loved giving back to the community. He was a great friend to many, and many are better for his friendship. He was well known for his great sense of humor, kindness, and generosity to those that needed a helping hand.
Cremation has been accorded. There will be no services.
John asked that if anyone wished to make a donation in his memory to please do so to the Livingston County Ambulance Service (SELCAS), 310 West Locust St., Fairbury IL 61739.
