Obituary for John Lenart
John Lenart, 92, of Bartonville passed away surrounded by his family Friday, January 6, 2012 at Hallmark House Pekin.  He was born October 30, 1919 in Central City PA, to Lucas and Mary Yanitchin Lenart.  He married Ruth E. Brase July 24, 1947 in Bartonville.  She survives along with children, John L. (Jayne) Lenart of Normal, Linda S. (Robert) Cranford of Bartonville, Judy I. (Dr. Louis) Angelicchio of Indianapolis, IN, David F. Lenart of Bartonville;  granddaughters Lizbeth and Emily Lenart, grandson Kelly Angelicchio, and many nieces and nephews.

John was the last living member of his family as he was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Helen Eckelberry, Nellie Lenart; brothers: Paul, Stanley, Joseph and Lewis Lenart and daughter-in-law Gail Duttarer-Lenart preceded him in death.

John served in the U.S. Army as SGT grade of Company D Twenty Fifth Medical Battalion and Military Policeman.

John put down his barber clippers after 50 years of barbering in Peoria and retired from John's Barber Shop in 1996.  In his words he "just ran out of gas."  John had his specialty songs and jokes that continue to bring smiles and laughs to his family and friends.  He attended Bartonville Unitied Methodist Church and enjoyed singing the hymns, some of which he hummed the tune the rest of the day.

As a strong patriot he was past Commander of American Legion Post 979 in Bartonville; lifetime member of American Legion Post 2, Peoria, served as President of the Peoria Memorial Association and as Democratic Precinct Committeeman for several years.

Cremation has been accorded.  Family gravesite services with burial of ashes will be Saturday, January 14 at 1 PM at Springdale Cemetery with Military Honors.  Pastor Linda Richard of Bartonville United Methodist Church will be officiating.

Memorials may be made in John's honor to the Bartonville United Methodist Church, 6005 South Adams, Bartonville, IL 61607 or charity of donor's choice.  The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. Pekin Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements.  On-line condolences may be made at csmico.com.
