Obituary for John Kenneth Murray

John Kenneth Murray, 61, of Peoria, Illinois, passed away on December 20, 2025, in East Peoria. He was born on February 24, 1964, in Peoria, Illinois to John E. and Lily J. (Thome) Murray.


John attended East Peoria Community High School, where he excelled academically as an honors student and served as president of the French Club. He later pursued further education at Illinois Central College in East Peoria.


Professionally, John devoted many years to working in management roles at Kaybee Toys and PARC. His time at PARC was especially meaningful to him; he was deeply committed to supporting individuals with disabilities and took great pride in making a positive difference in their lives.


John loved motorcycle riding during his younger years, especially with his brother and friends.


He will be remembered for his infectious laugh, quick wit, and generosity.


John is survived by his parents John E. (Mary Lou) Murray of Peoria and Lily (Daniel) Hale of East Peoria; his sister Julie (Todd) Steinfeldt of Bartonville; two nephews; one niece; one great-niece; one great-nephew; two stepbrothers; decades long friend Mike (Dawn) Meeds of Juliet, Tennessee; two aunts; one uncle; and many cousins.


He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; several aunts, uncles and cousins; his brother David K. Murray; one stepbrother; and some dear friends.


The memorial service date is pending.
