Obituary for John Joseph Ercegovich
John Joseph Ercegovich 89, of Pekin passed away on Monday January 28, 2008 at his home. Born in Ilasco, MO on February 3, 1918, the son of Joseph and Nina Bonacich Ercegovich and was raised by Joseph and Mary Dakovich Ercegovich, he married Carmen Marie Benassi on December 31, 1935, she passed away on November 26, 1967. John then married Lorraine Carmen Aimone on January 23, 1971, she survives along with his sons; Joseph and (Audrey) of Sun City Center, FL and Edward of Bettendorf, IA. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. His parents and sister Anna preceded him in death. John worked at Standard Brands and was a Supervisor of Yeast Production for 40 years, retiring September 18, 1982. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin, charter member of the Knights of Columbus #3507, former member of the Elks Lodge and also belonged to the Quarter Century Club, Friends of the Library and Senior Golfer at Parkview. A funeral mass will be held on Friday February 1, at 11:30 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Father Timothy Nolan will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday with a Rosary at 7 at Abts Mortuary and one hour prior to the service at the church. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Vincent DePaul or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Abts Mortuary.
