Obituary for John F. Lunsford
John F. Lunsford of Eureka, IL, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, May 29th, 2024. He was born on January 22nd, 1967, in Peoria, IL, to Bernie and Celia Lunsford.
John was preceded in death by his mother, Celia Brumm Lunsford, his brother, Bernie Lunsford Jr., and his paternal and maternal grandparents. He is survived by his three children: Kristin Lunsford of Minonk, IL, Josh Lunsford of Galesburg, IL, and Jacob Lunsford of Eureka, IL. He also leaves behind two cherished grandchildren, Kaden Armstrong and Lily Lunsford. Additionally, John is survived by his father, Bernie Lunsford Sr., and his siblings: Brenda McConnaughey, Shannon McConnaughey, Shara Lunsford, and Tacha (Dan) Gregory, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Known affectionately as "Pops," John ran his own drywall business alongside his son, always taking pride in staying busy. He adored his family and found joy in fishing, camping, and canoeing. John's love for his grandchildren was boundless, often spoiling them with his time and attention. He valued spending time with friends and was known for his honesty and willingness to help others, never hesitating to lend a hand or offer his spare room to those in need.
A passionate fan of the Dallas Cowboys, John enjoyed watching their games and humorously challenging the refs' calls. He also enjoyed listening to country music and rock from the '70s and '80s.
John's life will be celebrated in a private family Celebration of Life in June. Cremation has been accorded, and the Cremation Society of Mid Illinois Co. in Pekin is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at csmico.com.
