Obituary for John Elvin McClister
John Elvin McClister 71, of Green Valley passed away on Tuesday October 14, 2008 at Pekin Hospital. Born in Pekin on December 23, 1936 to John and Ethel Hackney McClister. He married Patricia Leykauf in Miami, FL on September 2, 1958. She survives along with his sons; Ronald, Michael (Gina) and Matthew (April) McClister all of Pekin, John Douglas (Diana) McClister of Creve Coeur, daughter Bonnie L. Crandell of North Pekin, sisters; Barbara (Robert) Robison of Salem, OR, Phyllis (Travis) Robison of LaPine OR and his 14 grand and 5 great grandchildren. His parents and brother Douglas preceded him in death. John served in the Air Force and was a 48 years member of Iron Workers Local #112. He was a 3rd and 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Archbishop Schlarman Council 3507 and assembly 210 where he co-chaired Thursday Night Bingo and very much enjoyed helping with the monthly Senior Dinners. He also belonged to the Pekin Moose Lodge 916, was a former Cub and Boy Scout leader, was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church were he was a Eucharistic and Hospital & Home Bound Minister and served as a Funeral Server. A visitation will be held on Friday October 17, at Abts Mortuary from 5:30 to 7:30 with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 10 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior to his service also at the church. Cremation will be accorded following the service and private burial of cremains will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin at a later date. Memorials may be made in his name to the Knights of Columbus in Pekin. Arrangements have been entrusted to Abts Mortuary.
