Obituary for John Charles Philips
John Charles Erickson Philips,93, of Washington, local musician, teacher, writer, arranger, and piano tuner, died on Friday, September 8, 2023, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, following the death of his beloved dog, Charlie.
He was born June 9, 1930, in Michigan City, IN.
John served in the U.S. Air Force.
He married Vallie Grace Mason; she survives. He is also survived by his son, Dan (Kim) Philips; granddaughters, Eleanor (Patrick) Cullinan, Madeline (Sean) Philips and great-granddaughter, Julia Cullinan.
John was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Sullivan Philips; son, David Philips; and granddaughter, Julia Philips.
A memorial service will be held at Evangelical United Methodist Church, 401 Walnut Street, Washington, IL, at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 16, 2023.
