Obituary for Joanne Check
Joanne Swanson Check, 74, of Peoria passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria. She was born on February 13, 1944 in Peoria to Viola and Harold Swanson. She married Michael Check in Lacon on July 2, 1966. Joanne is survived by her mother, Viola Fitchen; her sister, Bonnie (Arnold) Villiger; her brother, Dale (Sharon) Swanson; her sister-in-law, Patricia Kupper and her brother-in-law, Geoff Check. She was preceded in death by her father, Harold Swanson; her step-father, Bill Fitchen and her husband, Michael Check. Joanne was an avid Cardinals baseball fan, loved to fish and travel, and enjoyed books and movies. There will be a memorial service at Lutheran Hillside Village Waters of Life Chapel on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 2 p.m. Donations can be made to the Institute for Cancer Research 1560 Wilson Blvd., Suite 1000, Arlington, VA 22209 to LHV Foundation Benevolent Care 6901 N.
