Obituary for JoAnn Hamilton
JoAnn Hamilton, 82, of Green Valley passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Morton Terrace. She was born July 4, 1932 in Kewanee to Oscar and Alice Moore VanBroundghem. She married Kenneth Hamilton October 2, 1954 in Kewanee, he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her son Kim Hamilton of Spring Lake; daughter, Karen (Toby) Slevin of Pekin; grandchildren, Latisha (Travis) Bitterman, Katrina (Robbe) Lloyd, Alicia Hamilton, Jake Hamilton and great-grandchildren, Joel, Jared, Aliyah, Adria, Taelyn, Isaac and Uriah. JoAnn graduated from Kewanee High School and OSF St. Francis School of Nursing in Kewanee. She worked as a Registered Nurse at the hospital in Kewanee and in OB and surgery at Pekin Hospital, retiring in 1997. After retiring she worked at area nursing homes. JoAnn was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, dedicated nurse and had a great love of animals. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, 303 S. 7th Street, Pekin, IL 61554 where a mass will be held Friday, October 17, 2014 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow the mass at Green Valley Cemetery. Father Scott Potthoff will officiate. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church in her name. The family has entrusted Abts Mortuary in Pekin with arrangements.
