Obituary for Janice Rita Pitcoff
Janice Rita Fischman Pitcoff, 95, passed away on Tuesday September 30, 2008 at her home in Peoria. Born April 28, 1913 in Newark, New Jersey to Aaron and Anna Fischman she married James S. Pitcoff in 1939. After 65 years of marriage he preceded her in death in 2004. She is survived by her daughter and son-in law Suzanne and John Jost of Peoria; her daughter Katherine Pitcoff of Fort Bragg, California; and a few remarkably hardy long time friends. In 1996 she and her husband moved to Peoria from their much loved home in Maplewood, New Jersey where she had been a homemaker, hostess, friend to many, and knitter par excellence. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday October 4, 2008 at Peoria Christian Fellowship Church at 616 Abington (across from Woodruff High School). There will be no visitation. The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
