Janet Louise Dietrich passed away Friday, March 06, 2026, at her daughter’s home in Pekin, IL.
She was born on April 30, 1936, in Forest City, IL to Louis and Juanita Langston Lempke.
She married Tom Dietrich on November 20, 1955, in Forest City, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom, in 2017; her parents; and one brother, Roger.
Surviving are one son, Parker (Karen) Dietrich of Lander, WY; two daughters, Anne (Dan) Allen of Pekin, IL and Susan (Mark) Romine of Normal, IL; eight grandchildren, Stephanie (Jeremy) McKean, Shannon (Eric) Russell, Tom (Lauren) Allen, Elizabeth (Deythean) Freisinger, Craig (Rachel) Dietrich, Staci Dietrich, John (Yareli) Dietrich, and Ryan (Georgie) Dietrich; six great-grandchildren, Gavin Russell, Owen Russell, Joshua Dietrich, Hailey Dietrich, Teddy Dietrich, and Rustin Dietrich.
Janet graduated from Forman High School, Manito, IL in 1954. She attended Illinois Wesleyan University.
From a young age she was always for the underdog. She also set a great example by being kind to the elderly. She visited nursing homes to encourage friends and acquaintances and did so until she was elderly herself.
One of her greatest accomplishments was being a good Mother. She was loving and interested in all phases of her children’s lives. She was there for the good times and hard times.
She was a very good problem solver. If there was a solution, she would work at it until she found it.
She enjoyed sewing, knitting, gardening, reading, making beautiful pies, setting a pretty table, decorating her home, looking at house plans and observing nature.
What she considered most important was learning the truths from the Bible. She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in October 1966. She loved the ministry work and sharing the Bible’s message with others. She always felt the ones in her congregation were her family.
She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.
There will be a private graveside service in May.
The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Pekin/Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at csmico.com
