In Loving Memory of Janene Stillson

Janene Stillson (Turner), age 66, of Peoria, Illinois, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2024 at the OSF Richard Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.

Born on January 9, 1958, in Canton, Illinois, she was the cherished daughter of Lloyd and Berlene Turner. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Terry Turner.

Janene's memory will be lovingly carried on by those she leaves behind including her devoted daughter and son-in-law, Kimbra and Steve, and her adored grandchildren, Jack and Emma, all residing in Mahomet, Illinois. Her legacy also lives on through her brother, Dean (Cathy) Turner of Anniston, Alabama, and her sister, Sherry Turner, of Bartonville, Illinois. She is survived by several nieces and a nephew.

A proud graduate of Elmwood High School, Janene committed herself to a laudable career at AT&T, faithfully serving the company for 40 years until her retirement in 2017. Known for her unwavering work ethic, Janene's loyalty and dedication were evident to all who worked alongside her. Her competitiveness at work earned her several trips/cruises throughout her career.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Janene treasured the simple pleasures of life. Her greatest and most fierce love in life was for her family, but especially her grandchildren. Janene could often be found on the sidelines cheering on her grandchildren at their various sporting events. When she couldn't attend in person, she would watch and cheer them on through live streams of the events.

She was skilled in the arts of knitting and crocheting, creating countless treasured keepsakes for those she loved. This past Christmas, she made and gifted blankets for both of her grandchildren and they will be forever treasured.

The family finds comfort in knowing that Janene's kind heart and nurturing presence touched many lives. Her memory will linger in the hearts of family and friends as a constant reminder of her gentle soul.

Janene H. Stillson will be missed deeply, yet her spirit will continue to inspire those she knew and loved.

A special thanks to OSF Richard Owens Hospice home for the love and compassion shown during her stay, and to her dear friend, Cindy Simpson, who was there to help taking her to doctors' appointments, tests, etc over the last few years. A simple "thanks" is not enough to express the gratitude her family has for the love shown by friends and family during this time.

A Celebration of Life will be announced and held at a later time. Memorial donations can be made in Janene's honor to: OSF Richard Owens Hospice Home.

The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. Pekin/Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at csmico.com
