Obituary for James Myles
James Myles, 74, of Galesburg, IL formerly of Peoria, IL passed away Sunday, December 6, 2020 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born July 19, 1946 in Rosedale, MS to James O’Neal and Elnora Woods Myles. His parents and paternal grandmother, Gertrude Bradley preceded him in death.
He is survived by his son, James Courtland Myles Sr.; grandson, James C. Myles Jr. of Hazelwood, MO; sisters, Lula (Lawrence) Cosby of Springfield, OH, Elemory Harvey of Memphis, TN; special friend, Georgia Richardson of Cordova, TN; three nephews, Raphael Miles (Julie) of Chicago, IL, Gordon (Yolanda) Taylor of Springfield, OH, Reginald Harvey of Memphis, TN; two nieces, Bridget Harvey of Memphis, TN, Tara Cosby of Springfield, OH; a special cousin, Linda Warfield of Peoria, IL; former employer & friend, Gary Craig of Craig Upholstery Company Peoria, IL; a large host of cousins, and friends who will all miss him.
He graduated from Central High School in Peoria, IL.
My brother was not perfect, but he was strong in his belief and faith in a God of "Forgiveness." While incarcerated he made great strides to demonstrate how he had changed by mentoring other young men. He taught them that What you once were is not necessarily who you will always be. He was an avid reader of the Bible and participated in several ministerial Bible Study groups. James was known for his talent in artistry. Mostly portrait drawings in water color. He had recently started a project of birds on small canvases and professional quality greeting gift cards. For many years he worked as an upholsterer giving new life to old pieces of furniture. His time on earth was not totally wasted! May God be the glory!
Cremation has been accorded and no services will be held.
The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. Pekin/Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at csmico.com
