Obituary for James (Jim) Weinkauf

James (Jim) Weinkauf, 93, went home to be with Jesus, peacefully in his sleep, on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at his home at Heartis Senior Living in Peoria, Illinois. He was born on March 24, 1931, in Peoria, to Adam and Bertha Weinkauf. He was a long-time resident of Peoria and graduated from Peoria High School in 1949. Jim married the love his life, Pat Pullen, on June 2, 1951 in Peoria, Illinois. They had been married 73 years at the time of his death. Jim worked many years as the President of Fast Printing, a subsidiary of Fleming-Potter and then continued in sales with Fleming-Potter until his retirement. Jim was very outgoing and knew no strangers. He was always joking and made people smile from the moment they met him. His family and golf were his two biggest passions. He was a lifelong Cubs fan, and also enjoyed supporting Peoria High athletics, including participating in the sideline chain gang for football games. He is survived by his wife, Pat; daughter, Jama (Weinkauf) Davis of Florida; son, Michael Weinkauf of Peoria; two grandchildren, Sara Roccisano (Peter) of Florida and Chris Davis (Amanda) of California; and 4 great-grandchildren, Sarina, Ainsley, Landon, and Grace. Family, friends and others are invited to a Celebration of Life for Jim at United Presbyterian Church, 2400 W. Northmoor Rd in Peoria, October 12, 2024. There will be a brief burial service at 9 am, visitation 9:30-10:30, and a service starting at 10:30. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to United Presbyterian Church in Peoria, Illinois. The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois is assisting the family with arrangements.
