James Floyd Strube, 61, of Peoria passed away Friday, May 9, 2025, at his residence.
He was born on September 4, 1963, in Peoria to John Richard and Patricia Marie Barnes Strube. His parents preceded him in death.
James married Dianna L. Hopkins on September 24, 1988, in Pekin; she survives. He is also survived by his children, Laura (Justin) Kirby, Andrea (Zebulen) Simpkins, James Strube; grandchildren, Logan Kirby, Juliana Kirby, Jensen Kirby, Livia Kirby, Zayley Simpkins, Dominic Simpkins, Maverick Simpkins, D’Angelo Strube and brother, John R. (Kim) Strube.
He worked as a mechanic until he retired in 1998.
James loved his family and looked forward to grandparents’ day with his grandchildren and cheered for every one of them in their sports. He enjoyed driving his race car and loved watching all motorsports. Jim also loved mowing his lawn and criticizing those that didn’t. He loved beer 30, joking around and building random things. Jim wanted all to know the heart didn’t get him.
Cremation has been accorded and a celebration of life will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Peoria Police Benevolent Association Grounds 3703 Airport Road in Bartonville behind Aldi’s.
Memorials may be made to the family to help with expenses.
