Obituary for Ithel Kenser
Ithel G. Kenser, 83, of Lewistown passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Heartland Health Care Center in Canton. He was born March 29, 1934 in Morley, MO to Early and Vera Greer Kenser. He married Shirley F. Whitlock November 2, 1957 in Creve Coeur; she survives. He is also survived by his children, DeLynn (Derek) Gardner, Jeffery (Susan) Kenser, Bradley Kenser, Rebekah (Daniel) Poston, Rachel (Scott) Heidemann; grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob, Jesse, Shelby, Morgan, Hunter, Kellie, Kari, Sydney, Kyle, Tyler, Kyle; great-grandchildren, Madison, Greyson, Ashayla, Brayden, Mikaela, Aubrielle, Eliza, Nicole; brothers, William Kenser, Earl Kenser Jr.; sister, Maxine (Howard) Coleman and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Troy Kenser, Lewis Kenser, Loren Kenser and sisters, Helen Holden, Verlin Whiteaker, Verna Edmond and Margie Maddux. Ithel served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and served as a Pastor for 50 years in Illinois and Arkansas in the Nazarene Church. He also worked for Caterpillar retiring in 1999 after 30 years. He was very active with churches and the civic community. A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at the First Church of the Nazarene 2051 E. Chestnut Street, Canton, IL 61520 at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior at the church. Reverend Joshua Moore will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Harbor Light Hospice in Galesburg or the church in his name.
