Obituary for Helen Weston
Helen Weston 89, of Pekin passed away on Friday June 20, 2008 at Proctor Hospital. Born in Brooklyn, NY on August 10, 1918 to John and Laura Leopold Henning. She is survived by her daughters; Bonnie (Glen) Hartig of Pekin, Laura Gae (John) Burns of Moneta, VA, Diane (Robert) Longman of Wirtz, VA, sister Lucile Hackett of West Palm Beach, FL and her 7 grand and 5 great grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by her friend of 55 years Dot Lindberg and her beloved cousin Mary Renneisen. She worked as a Secretary for the United States Army Electronics Command at Fort Monmouth in New Jersey. Helen was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Pekin and she made her home with her daughter Bonnie (Glen) Hartig and had many good times with her oldest granddaughter Laura Schoon of Pekin. Helen loved spending time with all of her family and grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends and loved flowers especially pansies. Cremation has been accorded and private burial of cremains was held at Lakeside cemetery. A memorial service will be held at the First Church of the Nazarene on Friday June 27, at 11 a.m. with a fellowship to follow the service at the church. Pastor Lloyd Brock will officiate. Memorial may be made to her church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Abts Mortuary.
