Obituary for Helen Sours
Helen C. Sours, 85, of Pekin, IL passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at Timbercreek Rehab and Healthcare Center in Pekin, IL. She was born January 5, 1928 in Peoria to Floyd and Delores McCullough Tribbett. She married Charles V. Sours June 22, 1953 in Peoria, IL. He preceded her in death March 2, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Lloyd Tribbett; sister, Betty Kiebach; son, Stephen Sours and great-grandson, Austin Ripper. She is survived by her sons, Jay (Cheryl) Sours of Pekin, IL Dennis (Diana) Sours of Manito, IL; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; brothers, Jerry “J.R.” Tribbett of Peoria, IL, Floyd “Bud” (Marsha) Tribbett of Texas; sisters, Joyce Knaggs of Pekin, IL; Sherrie “Shea” Heller of California, June “Noni” Montavon of California, Jeanne Harms of Florida and several nieces and nephews. Helen attended Manual High School and Flamingo Beauty College. She worked as a hairdresser for Sadler’s for 20 years, retiring in 1978. She was a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin, IL and a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Pekin, IL. A funeral service will be held Monday, June 3, 2013 at 11 a.m. with visitation two hours prior at Abts Mortuary in Pekin, IL. Pastor Steven Rowell will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin, IL. Memorials may be made to Timbercreek Rehab and Healthcare Center’s activity fund in her name.
