Obituary for Helen Land
Helen Margerite Land passed away on Monday, May 29, 2017 at Pekin Manor at the age of 95, surrounded by her family.
Helen was born October 14, 1921 in Irving, Illinois to Frank and Mary Jessamine Snow.
She married Forrest R. Land (Dick) on December 26, 1941 at University City, Missouri. Dick passed away on February 6, 2012. She lived most of her life in E. Peoria, IL.
She was a homemaker and after her family was grown she worked as a film inspector at Venard Films in E. Peoria. She was a charter member of Fondulac Congregational Church in E. Peoria.
She spoiled her family with gifts (many of them quirky) and home baked cookies. She loved celebrations, her flower garden, bird watching, and solving the Wheel of Fortune puzzle faster than any of the contestants on TV. Her sense of humor, honest opinions, and appreciation of the small details in life will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
She is survived by three children, daughter Marilyn (Merrill) Johnson; sons, Dennis (Aleta) Land and Brian (Becky) Land, her eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by six sisters, two brothers, and one infant great-grandchild.
Burial will be at Fondulac Cemetery, E. Peoria. As per her wishes, there will be no public service. A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
