Obituary for Harry Tillmann
Harry William Tillmann, 90, of Peoria passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria. He was born August 23, 1928 in Rockford, IL to Walter and Emily Fuchs Tillmann. He first married Mary Kathrine “Boots, Starcy” Startevich and later married Jacqueline Mowbray Hickey in Peoria on May 9, 1998; she survives. He is also survived by his step-children, Greg Parker, Matthew (Barb) Hickey, Elizabeth (Mark) Shane, Luke (Joanne) Hickey, Mark (Susan) Hickey; twelve grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. His parents preceded him in death. Harry served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War serving from 1946 to 1951 and worked for Santa Fe and later a detective agency in Chicago; retiring in 1992. He was a lifelong member of the German American Society in Peoria and was very proud of his German heritage; he spoke fluent German. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice in memory of Harry. Cremation has been accorded and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
