Obituary for Harold B. Jespersen
Harold B. Jespersen 87, of Pekin passed away at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton on Wednesday March 25, 2009. Born in Lyons, CO on June 10, 1921 to Nils and Selma Burness Jespersen. He married Marie Steigerwalt in Lawrenceburg, IN on December 8, 1945, she survives along with his sons; David of Los Angeles, CA, Donald (Jill) of Hermiston, OR, Robert of Chicago, daughter Carol Delheimer of Rockford and grandchildren; Amanda Delheimer and Matthew (Victoria Buck) Delheimer. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Charles Jespersen. Harold graduated in 1943 from the University of Colorado in Boulder and served in the Army Air Force from 1943 to 1945. He was a Chemical Engineer for Sherex, retiring in 1986. He was an avid Stain Glass maker and enjoyed Circle 8 Square Dancing. Harold was a proud member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where he was an Elder, taught Sunday School and was on the Board and Treasurer for Ewe’s Treasures. A funeral service will be held on Monday March 30, at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pekin. Rev. Glenn Niemann will officiate and burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Memorials may be made in Harold’s name to Good Shepherd Lutheran School building fund.
