Obituary for H. Gene Senn
H. Gene Senn 78, passed away on May 31, 2009 in his home in Tremont IL, after an extended illness. He was born January 19, 1931 the son of Herall and Rose Marie Gaffner Bean in Highland, a small town near Greenville, IL where he grew up taking his stepfather, Vallee Senn;s name. He first married Barbara A. Johnston of Greenville. He later married Barbara A. Siegfried Brown of Peoria IL. She survives along with their four sons; Robert Mark Senn of Torrance, CA, Richard Daniel Senn of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, David Leslie Brown of Tucson, AZ and Michael Robert Brown of Chicago. Six grandchildren also survive. He served in the Army as a Paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division during the Korean War. Gene continued his adventures by piloting small planes and touring the country on his motorcycle. He was an avid reader and an aspiring writer. He loved nature and all things great and small. Gene worked for Caterpillar Inc. for 35 years in Joliet, Grenoble, France, Peoria’s general offices and at the Mossville Engine Plant. He held staff and management assignments in Manufacturing, Employee Relations, Purchasing and Training, retiring in 1985. However he was far from retired, acting as a Consultant for Caterpillar for many years and assisting his wife in her home business. Cremation has been accorded and his family will receive friends and neighbors at their home in Lake Windermere from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday June 4, with a garden memorial service following. Chaplain Chuck Wilcox will officiate. Memorial contributions can be made to OSF St. Francis Hospice. The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. is assisting the family with arrangements.
