Gwen Rae Lox, 72, of Oquawka, Illinois, passed away on February 1, 2026, due to complications of a stroke.
Gwen was born in 1953 to Emma Gale (Marion Brown Jr.) Brown, Oquawka, IL and William Stewart, Oquawka, IL. She graduated from Union High School in Henderson County, Illinois. She loved animals, working and spent her life doing various jobs in healthcare and the service industry. She also enjoyed delicious food, and her coffee and doughnut dates with friends.
She is survived by her two sons John Sells, of Altoona, Iowa and Josh Sheff (Amy), of Saint Charles, Missouri, and her grandsons, Johnathan Sells and Nathan Sells both of Altoona, Iowa. She is also survived by siblings and stepsiblings. She is preceded in death by her parents and stepfather.
Per her wishes, there will be no services. If friends or family wish to memorialize her, donations can be made to the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice House of Peoria, IL or PAW Animal Shelter in Fort Madison, Iowa.
