Obituary for Gloria Smith
Gloria Smith, 89, of Peoria, IL passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at Washington Christian Village. She was born August 12, 1928 to Quinton and Lillian May Justis. She is survived by her children, Marcus Smith of Tallahassee, FL, Melissa Imig of Morton, IL, Quinton Smith of Peoria, IL, Dana Smith of McHenry, IL, Chris Smith of Peoria, IL, Geoff Smith of Lindenhurst, IL; sixteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Gloria graduated from Northwestern University College of Music in 1950. She was a music teacher for Dunlap Grade School from 1967 to 1994. She was a member of her church choir, helped organize the Sing It Yourself Messiah at the church for several years, sang in the Peoria Opera and Bradley Chorus and was a coloratura soprano. She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Peoria, IL where a memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 11 a.m., an informal visitation will be held in the church library at 10:30 a.m. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in her name. The family would like to thank OSF Hospice and Washington Christian Village for their warm Christian care in her last days.
