Obituary for Glen (Gus) J. Errion

Glen J. (Gus) Errion, age 94, of Peoria, IL died on February 3, 2023, at home.


Born August 25, 1928, in Peoria, IL to Harold G. and Elizabeth McDonnell Errion. He married Sarah A. Ryan on September 8, 1950. She died March 24, 1983. He married Sally M. Cundiff on February 14, 1986. She survives.


Also surviving are four daughters, Karen Wong of Washington, IL, Susan Meismer (Bob Meismer) of Metamora, IL, Margaret Thomas of Peoria Heights, IL and Amy Boettcher of Dallas, TX, one son, Stuart M. Errion (Andrea Errion) of Tremont, IL. One stepdaughter, Amy Sprague-Pellino of Chillicothe, IL, two stepsons, Robert W. Sprague (Teresa Sprague) and Brian S. Mackoway of Peoria, IL. Seventeen grandchildren, and 11 + one on the way great grandchildren and many good friends.


He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters and one granddaughter.


He graduated from Spalding Institute and Bradley University in Peoria, IL and was an Army veteran. He was a Special Agent of the F.B.I., Chief Juvenile Probation Officer of Peoria County, IL, Chief U.S. Probation Officer for the Central District of IL and Executive Director of the Peoria Board of Election Commissioners. In 1978 he was selected by the Federal Probation Officers Association of 1800 members as the recipient of the Doyle Award which is given each year to the officer who best exemplifies the professional standards of service to the court, to the community and to the offender.


In accordance with his instructions, there will be no funeral or visitation. He requested no flowers. Cremation has been accorded, and his remains will be deposited in the West Indies by his wife.


There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
