Obituary for Gerald "Jerry" Wayne Malcome
Gerald "Jerry" Wayne Malcome, 74, of Low Point, IL fell asleep in death Sunday, July 11, 2021, at his home after a 5-year battle with ALS. He was born on September 12, 1946, in Pekin, IL to Sherman L. Malcome, Jr. and Mary (Wyss) Malcome. He graduated from Metamora Township High School in 1964. On July 27, 1968, he married Reve' Herrala in Peoria Heights, IL. Jerry retired from Caterpillar, Inc., Mossville in 1996 after 30 years of service. Being an avid gardener, he shared his bountiful harvest with family and friends. He was a member of the Riverside Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Reve', one daughter, Monica, of Washington, IL, one son, Matthew (Jennifer) of East Peoria, IL, a brother, Fred (Jeanette) of Metamora, IL, one sister, Florence "Sis" Hayse, and a brother, Ron (Kay) of Chillicothe, IL, and grandsons Adam and Ethan Hanson. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Kevan.
Jerry's family gratefully acknowledges the professionalism and genuine kindness of Leslie Smith, RN, during her year and a half of caring for Jerry. Many thanks also to Dr. Alain Vilatte, Dr. James Adams, and OSF Hospice.
