Obituary for George "Russ" Frederick Kaufmann
George “Russ” Frederick Kaufmann, 75, of Peoria passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born October 1, 1946, in Chicago Heights to Charles Bruce and Shirley Heckman Kaufmann. His parents; sister, Sherri and brother, Charles “Duke” preceded him in death.
He is survived by his daughter, Melissa Kaufmann of West Peoria and his favorite grandpup, Remy; brother, Michael Kaufmann of Texas; grandson, Zachary (Valerie Poplett) Kaufmann of Peoria and their daughters, Sophia and Malina (great grandpa Kaufmann’s pride and joy); estranged sons, Doug Kaufmann, Jon Kaufmann both of Peoria; granddaughters, Emily and Allison of Peoria and niece, Misti (Aaron) Norfleet and family of Texas.
Russ served in the U.S. Navy. He attended Riverside Community Church.
Russ never lived beyond his means, but anyone that truly knew him knew what kind of man Russ really was. From his monetary gifts to his orphans and pastors in Haiti (and to other missions work overseas), to his love for his family, Russ was the definition of unconditional love. He was a proud contractor who loved Jesus and built everything as if he was building for Jesus. Russ was an amazing prayer warrior, grandpa, and absolute best friend to his daughter, Melissa. He will most definitely be missed.
Cremation has been accorded and a small memorial service will be held at a later date.
