Obituary for Geneva (Ginny) Sanford Combs
Geneva (Ginny) Sanford Combs, 85, of West Peoria passed away Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Heartland Healthcare Center in Peoria. She had been a resident of Belwood for two years. Geneva was born on February 14, 1928 in Pontotoc County, MS to John and Lena Belle (Kelly) Witt. She married Jessie H. Sanford on January 27, 1945. She later married Jerry Combs. They preceded her in death. She is survived by 5 sons, Jim (Pat), Bobby (Pam), Mike (Becky Woodson), Tim, Jessie Paul (Teri) Sanford, all of the Peoria area; 1 brother, Terry (Judy) Maxcy of New Albany, MS; 8 grandchildren, Jamie (Angie Cooley), Doug (Tammy), John (Kelly), Jordan Sanford, Renee (Jodie) Trammell, Jessica (Matt) Flynn, Liv and Maci Sanford; 12 step grandchildren, Adam, Steve, Patti, Stephanie, Amanda, Eric, Andrew, Brian, Jennifer, Tylar, Leighton and Lauran. She is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 1 sister, Hazel Earline Phillips Lucera and 3 brothers, Murell and Hilary Witt, Ray Maxcy. She retired from St. Margaret Hospital's Housekeeping Dept. in Spring Valley, IL. She was a member of Second Baptist Church on Farmington Road where a memorial service will be held on November 8, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Paul Maitland will officiate. In lieu of flowers, Geneva had requested that memorials be made to her church or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
