Obituary for Gary "Stretch" Lee Bybee Sr.
Gary “Stretch” Lee Bybee Sr., 67, of Peoria, IL, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at his home.

He was born June 29, 1952 in Canton the son of Robert Allen and Helen Jean Chittum Bybee.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Toni Campbell Bybee; two children, Ginny (Charles) Matlock of Peoria, Gary Lee Bybee Jr. of Peoria; seventeen grandchildren, Kyle (RayLynn), Halee (Brody), Brendan, Keigan, Gary Lee III, Braden, Michael, Aaron, Charlee, Caleb, Caden, Kendan, Jaylen, Ethan, Greylin, Gavin, Emerie; three great-grandchildren, Brentlee, Ellie, Paxtyn; brother, Robert (Vickie) Bybee of Arizona and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Helen Bybee and three brothers, Jeff, David and Johnny Bybee.

He attended Manual High School and enlisted in the Marines in 1970. After being in the Marines Gary became a jack of all trades including painting and maintenance work. He would offer a hand to help to anyone.

He loved spending time with his grandchildren and making them laugh. Watching his grandson race at the local track. Going camping at Stonefort Campground with his whole family. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and a diehard St. Louis Cardinals fan. Gary enjoyed vacationing in Florida on the beach with his wife. He would welcome everyone with a big smile and hug. Gary was known by many and loved greatly by everyone. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Gary attended church at Christian Assembly Church in Peoria. A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at a later date.
