Obituary for Gary L. Schwindenhammer
Gary L. Schwindenhammer, 56, of Peoria passed away Sunday, March 15, 2026, at Carle Health Methodist in Peoria.
He was born on August 4, 1969, in Peoria to Gerald “Judd” and Nancy Overturf Schwindenhammer. His mother and brother, Lonnie Schwindenhammer preceded him in death.
Gary married Shannon D. Opper on January 6, 2017; she survives. He is also survived by his children, Seth Schwindenhammer, Morgan (John) Yanchoris; grandchild, Declan Yanchoris and father, Gerald “Judd” Schwindenhammer.
He worked at Keystone for 32 years, retiring in 2025.
Gary was a loving husband and enjoyed their many trips outside the country. He loved all his family, especially his grandson Declan. Gary supported his son and daughter in every aspect of their busy sports life.
He was a member of the Limestone Little League board for years and a successful and proud travel ball coach. Gary played with the Limestone High School baseball team and softball for Keystone. His kids loved to go to watch their dad play when they were younger. Gary enjoyed playing Texas Hold'em. He was an avid Cubs and Colts fan.
Cremation has been accorded and a celebration of life will be held from 12 noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the American Legion in Bartonville.
