Obituary for Gary Allen Orwig
Gary Allen Orwig, 77, of Canton, Illinois, died on January 9, 2021, at Graham Hospital.

He was born on October 10, 1943, in Fulton County, Illinois, to Frank and Mary Orwig. He graduated from Canton High School in 1961.

Gary married his high school sweetheart, Sandra Kay Kinzer, on June 18, 1963, Canton, Illinois. She preceded him in death on June 15, 2008. He later married Carol Welker on June 6, 2009. She preceded him in death. He married Sara Webb on April 4, 2016. She survives. Surviving are one son, Brian (Natalie) Orwig of Fairview; one daughter, Kandy (Donald) Pollitt of Lewistown; grandchildren, Drake (Stephanie) Pollitt, Narissa (Garrett) Whitehurst, and Brock Orwig; and great-grandchildren, Xandyr and Brayden Pollitt. Also surviving is one brother, Robert (Melba) Orwig of Canton, and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Gordon and Sheldon Orwig.

Gary retired from International Harvester after 20 years of service, and later retired from the City of Canton as Waste Water Treatment Plant Superintendent. He and his wife, Sandra, owned and operated Gary's Archery Shop for many years where he enjoyed teaching other avid archers. Gary had a love for traditional bow hunting and found joy in sharing his expertise. He was a founding member of Black Diamond Archery Club and was recognized as a 50-year member in 2014. Gary attended Evangelical Free Church and was a life member of the Morning Star Lodge of Canton.

Cremation rites have been accorded and private burial of the ashes will take place at a later date.
