Galine Joyce Himmel, 82, of Pekin, formerly of Manito, IL, passed away on March 26, 2026.
She was born on August 22, 1943, in Scott County, Missouri to Wallace and Irene "Joyce" Lynxwiler Sindle.
Galine married Ronald Himmel in 1964 in Groveland, IL. He passed in April 2023. She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Cindy Dow; brother, Roger Sindle; son in law, Tim Miller; daughter in law, Jackie VonBoeckman; great-nephew Mark Williams, and great-niece Hunter Saint Cerny.
Surviving are one son, Tim Himmel of Pekin; one daughter, Gina Miller of Pekin; one brother, Doug (Nonie) Sindle of Manito; 7 grandchildren, Breanne (Seth) Thomas, April (Ben) Brager, Amanda (Tom) Jackson, Lindsay (Chris) Krus, Dustin (Miranda) Himmel, Nathan Miller, Laci Pierson, and 14 great-grandchildren, as well as one niece and many nephews.
Galine was a 1961 graduate of Morton High School, later working for the Illinois Department of Employment Security until her retirement.
She lived a life rooted in love, family, and her Christian faith. Galine loved the simple joys in life. She enjoyed music and playing her piano. Galine loved decorating for the holidays and spending time with family.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of her life will be planned at a later time.
Memorial contributions may be made to TAPS Animal Shelter in Pekin, IL in her name.
