Obituary for G. Paul Gerdes
G. Paul Gerdes, 92, of Peoria passed away Monday, July 12, 2021, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born March 16, 1929, in Peoria to George H. and Beatrice M. Bowen Gerdes. His parents and brother, Howard G. Gerdes, preceded him in death.
He married Elma B. Andrews in 1953; she survives. He is also survived by his daughter, Janie M. (Randy Brunner) Gerdes; son, David P. (Mary Barringer-Addison) Gerdes; and grandchildren, Elizabeth M. Brunner, Patrick P. Brunner, and Bethany G. Gerdes.
Paul graduated from Woodruff High School and Bradley University. He was in the Sigma Chi Fraternity at Bradley University. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve during the Korean War and worked for Caterpillar as a Computer Systems Supervisor, retiring in 1987. Paul was a member of Schiller Masonic Lodge #335 and a member of First Federated Church in Peoria since 1957.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or another charity of choice.
Cremation has been accorded and private family services will be held.
