Obituary for Evelynne Lorraine Neighbour
Evelynne Lorraine Neighbour 85, of Peoria passed away at home on September 15, 2009, surrounded by her loving family. She was born to Henry and Nora Smith Gumble in Corning, CA on June 22, 1924. During World War II, she worked as an Administrative Secretary for Kaiser Permanetic Metals Ship Building Corporation in Richmond, CA. She also spent 18yrs at Harper Wyman Co in Sterling and Lisle, IL as a receptionist. She retired to Peoria, IL. She married Wm. Neighbour on October 22, 1945 in Lovilia, IA. The majority of Evelynne’s life was spent as a homemaker nurturing and caring for her beloved family. She was the guiding force in her children’s lives, and faced each day with a true appreciation for life’s challenges. Her gentle sense of humor and capacity for love will be missed and treasured by those whose lives she touched. Evelynne is survived by her five children: Linda Opalinski, Karan (Tom) Kaluzynski, Gail (Bill) Eaton, Bill (Lori) Neighbour, Dana (Roger) Clayton, sister Marjorie (Jerry) Rindahl, twelve grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Mrs. Neighbour was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, a sister, a son-in-law, and a great grandchild. Cremation was accorded by Abts Mortuary in Pekin.
