Born on August 10, 1930, Eva Elaine was raised in Metamora, Illinois on the family farm of her parents, Elsie and Walter Zimmerman along with her beloved older sister Betty. The two of them grew up together making memories of farm life which their children and grandchildren enjoyed hearing about! Eva graduated from Metamora High School, and she attended Valparaiso University. As a young wife and mother, Eva focused her time and love on raising her family. Later in life she moved to the north woods of Wisconsin. There she built a home and life where she could pursue her love of gardening, animals and nature. The " Property " as she referred to it was a favorite place for grandchildren to visit. After the passing of her husband, she decided it was time to move back home to be nearer to her children. Her final years were in Illinois spending time with her Children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was also, able to enjoy her favorite activities: gardening, painting, writing poetry, talking on the phone, and discussing philosophy, politics and religion. She was never at a loss for words. Sadly, time took her from us. She passed away peacefully at age 94. She will be laid to rest in the family plot at Oakwood Cemetery. She is survived by her sister Betty Whitham: Children; Stephanie Sutherland, Mark Ruff (Barbara Waugh), Rachel Bourke (Jim), Dave Brown (Cathy), Valerie Stevens and Audrey Archer . Grandchildren; Katie (Bourke) Hobson, Eric Bourke, Charles Sutherland, Meghan (Sutherland) Pendley, Leslie (Ruff) Fagen, Jack Ruff, Joseph Ruff, Adam Brown, Kyle Brown, Luke Russell and Bethany Russell. Great Grandchildren: Holden Hobson, Hunter Hobson, Wylie Sutherland, Hayes Pendley, Madelyn Pendley, Aidan Ruff and Maximus Fagen. A heartfelt appreciation to all the ARC staff in El Paso, Illinois for their great care and compassion given our mother during her extended stay with them.
