Obituary for Etta LaVerne Hightower
Etta LaVerne Hightower, 93, of Topeka, IL passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at Timbercreek Rehabilitation & Health Care in Pekin, IL.
She was born on May 5, 1932, in South Pekin, IL to Garnet Ballard and Frances L. DeKalb Stovall.
LaVerne married Ronnie Lee Hightower, he preceded her in death in 2000. Her parents; brother, James Marshall Stovall and granddaughter, Charissa also preceded her in death.
She is survived by her children, Lu Cinda “Cindy” Bozarth, Glen Steven (Peggy) Hayes; grandchildren, Tonya Robin, Rachael Klynn, Eric Stout, Toby Stovall-Bozarth, Candy LaVerne Lonie; great-grandchildren, Mia Rose Bozarth, Tobi Mariah, Mikayla Fawn, Chase, Dakota, Christopher, Kirra; step great-grandchildren, Grace, Grant and her best friend for 70 years never having an argument, Maggie Feltmeyer.
LaVerne loved being with her family, all five generations. She enjoyed reading, sewing, crafting, decorating and antiquing. She also enjoyed canning, baking and decorating cakes. She had LaVerne’s Sweet Shop in Pekin, IL.
Cremation has been accorded and no services will be held.
The family would like to thank Timbercreek Rehabilitation & Health Care in Pekin, IL for the excellent care for Miss Hightower’s last three months.
