Erika attended schools in East Peoria and Morton and graduated from Western Illinois University with a degree in Business Administration. She was employed by the University of Illinois College of Medicine.
Erika was an avid reader, loved classic and 1990’s country music, kayaking, camping, and crocheting. She loved her two dogs, Maggie & Venus, very much. She enjoyed cooking, especially trying new recipes. She had a great talent for line dancing & swing dancing, leaving those around her in awe. Part of Erika’s heart will always lie in Tennessee where she hoped to relocate after her illness.
Erika married Joe Tomich, and they had one son together, Wyatt Cole Tomich, in 2000. She later married Jacob Sung and they had one son together, Joshua Jacob Sung, in 2011.
Erika suffered the loss of her mother, Carole, in 1983 due to breast cancer. She also suffered the loss of her beloved son, Wyatt, in 2015 as a result of a bicycling accident. Erika’s strong faith in God carried her through these tragedies.
In addition to her mother & son, Erika was predeceased by grandparents, Beulah & Leo Trainer of Bartonville, Peggy & Roger Wasson of Glasford, Donald & Josephine Rockhill of Pekin, and her cousin, Dorothy Jepson, of Edwards.
