Obituary for Elverta V. Lackey
Elverta Virginia Lackey 91, of Peoria passed away on Saturday November 8, 2008 at Heartland Healthcare Center in Peoria. Born in Easton, IL on October 25, 1917 to Roscoe and Jessie Maude Ryan Tomlin. She married Charles Pettit in 1937, he preceded her in death in 1955. She then married Edgar Lackey in Peoria in 1958, he preceded her in death on July 18, 1987. Her son Charles Pettit Jr., brother John and sister Druscilla also preceded her in death. Elverta is survived by her daughter Diane (David) Windsor of Dunlap, step-daughter Susan (Ernie) Casalini of Panama City, FL and her 8 grand and 11 great grandchildren. She was a homemaker and a avid Bridge player and belonged to many clubs in the Peoria and Pekin area. Cremation has been accorded and a graveside service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. is assisting the family with arrangements. On-line condolences may be made at csmico.com
