Obituary for Else Shaw
Else Shaw 85, of Pekin passed away on Friday March 5, 2010 at
her home. Born in Germany on August 26, 1924 to Joseph and
Anna Susanna Heibel Sohlbach. She married Richard “Dick” Shaw
on May 22, 1954 in Wiesbaden, Germany. He preceded her in
death on May 25, 2003. Also preceding were her parents and her
brother. Else is survived by her children: Petra (Dave) Linden of
Monmouth, Linda (Mark) Tillman and Peter (Chris) Shaw both of
Pekin, Rick (Angie) Shaw of Peoria, Allen (Tina) Shaw of Hollywood, FL and Monica (Joe) Carrington of Pekin. Her 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren also survive. Else was a Homemaker and a selfless devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Council of Catholic Women, the RCIA, lead the Charismatic Prayer Group, administered Holy Communion at Hallmark House once a week and volunteered at several other Nursing Homes as well. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday March 10, at her church at 10 a.m. Father Timothy Nolan will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin. Visitation will be held at Abts Mortuary on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. with a rosary starting at 7. Memorials may be made in her name to the American Heart Association or St. Joseph Church.
