Obituary for Elmer McIntosh
Elmer F. "Mac" McIntosh, 89, of Peoria, Ill., passed away at 11:45 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015 at Sharon Healthcare in Peoria. He was born in Sikeston, Missouri on January 18, 1926, and was married to Maxine M. Jones (who predeceased him). He was also predeceased by his mother Edith Basham Couch, his father Sigel McIntosh, and three sisters. Surviving are one son: Terry (Ruth) McIntosh, Pekin; three daughters: Patricia (Ken) Mellendorf, Metamora; Cathy (Gary) Howell, Farmington; Linda (Jim) Deaton, Washington; one stepson: Gilbert Mooberry, Jr., Washington; and his special friend, Wanda Zurkamer of Lincoln. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Mac served in the U.S. Navy in WW II from 1943 - 1946. He also was a Peoria Policeman for 20 years, retiring in 1976. He was a beloved member of the United Presbyterian Church of Peoria, and was active in various Masonic fraternities. Mac enjoyed golfing, ballroom dancing and St. Louis Cardinal Baseball. Cremation will be accorded and the family will have a private graveside service. Memorial contributions may be made to either the American Heart Association or the U.S. Dept. of Veteran’s Affairs.
