Obituary for Elaine Roberts
Elaine F. Roberts, 69, of Morton, passed away peacefully at 10:30am Friday, December 1, 2017, in her home, surrounded by her family. She was born October 1st, 1948, in Chicago, Il to Frank and Lillian Coughlin. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son David Egert Jr. and her husband, Michael D. Roberts. Surviving are her children, Beth (Scott) Schmied of Morton, Michelle (Todd) Fortier of Marquette Heights, Michael Roberts Jr. of Morton, and Lori (Durward) Little of Chicago; ten grandchildren, Owen, Aiden, Aspen, Brevin, Danielle, Jesse, Emily, Jacob, Billy, Kylie and Jack; one great grandson, Linkin; three sisters, Annie (Steve) Chappell of Austin, TX, Mary (Steve) Marks of Powder Springs, Ga, Judy (Mike) Culliney of Alexandria, VA; one brother, Frank Coughlin; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Elaine married the love of her life, Michael Roberts, on November 30, 1979 in Markham, Il. As a homemaker, wife and mother, she was strong, capable and tireless. She cared for her family and friends through her delicious cooking/baking, sewing and crafting. Elaine also loved gardening, jigsaw puzzles, watching movies and of course sharing a good laugh over a cup of coffee at her kitchen table with her friends and neighbors. She was a wonderful person who showed love to everyone she came in contact with. She was caring and beautiful, inside and out. Elaine always sacrificed her needs for the good of her family and she will be remembered as a selfless wife and mother with a quiet strength. She believed that the joy, love, perseverance and determination we showed to others in our lives would live on in the lives of those around us and this legacy is instilled in our hearts and minds forever. In lieu of flowers, the family of Elaine asks that you be kind to one another, pay it forward, and spread some joy today.
The family wishes to sincerely thank the staff at Unity Point Health Hospice for the wonderful and compassionate care and support provided to both Elaine and her family. They are also grateful to the many friends and caregivers who helped uplift the family during Elaine’s courageous battle.
Cremation will be accorded. At Elaine’s request, there will be no services. Family and friends are invited to Schooners in Morton, from 4-8pm on Friday, December 15, 2017 to reminisce and celebrate Elaine’s life with family and friends.
