Obituary for Edward Slepicka
Edward M Slepicka, better known as "Tick", age 71, of Lake Wildwood, passed away peacefully Feb 20th 2018 at his home, with his wife and son by his side after a long battle with cancer.

Tick was born May 12th 1946 in Chicago, the son of Edward and Vincentia (Diaferia) Slepicka. He married the love of his life, Joanne, on January 28, 1983. They met at the Country House in Clarendon Hills and were married 3 months later. They recently celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary.

He is survived by his wife Joanne and son Michael Slepicka of Lake Wildwood, stepson Aaron (Katie) Perry of Countryside, 2 granddaughters, Caralynn and Morgan Perry, sister Donna (Danny) Kimminau of West Allis Wisconsin, brother Tom Slepicka, Arleen and Ray Kinder, Mary Kay ant Tom Crowell, Tom and Pam Sima, and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother and one stepdaughter Cara Perry.

In 1969 he was drafted and served a tour of duty with the 25th infantry in Vietnam. After his honorable discharge, he went on to work as a police officer for the Justice Police Dept for 25 years and retired at the rank of Commander in 2002.

After Tick retired he and his family moved to Lake Wildwood. They really enjoyed the area and met many great friends camping there. He loved spending time boating, golfing, and enjoying the "Good Life" at Lake Wildwood with close friends. Tick enjoyed watching sports and was an avid Bears and White Sox fan. With Ticks Italian upbringing he savored the many homemade meals his family made...especially his sister Donna's lasagna and cannolis. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and his animated character.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Lake Wildwood Lodge on Saturday Feb 24th from 4-8 with a prayer service and military salute to be held promptly at 4:00 pm. A private church service will be held at a future date for family.

A special thanks to Veronica, Kelly and staff at St Margarets Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion.

Memorials may be made to Mayo Clinic Rochester, MN or St Margaret's Hospice Care Spring Valley IL.
