Obituary for Edward O. Newell
Edward O Newell, 59, of East Peoria, IL, died on Sunday, August 18th, 2024 at OSF-St. Francis Hospital in Peoria, with family present. He suffered a terminal brain stem stroke – ending 6 years of illness.
He was born in Vero Beach, FL on Saturday, June 19th, 1965. Son of Howard L and Katie Jane (Fryar) Newell.
Ed graduated from Sam Houston High School in Arlington, TX. He never married nor had any children. He was a masonry laborer, and worked alongside his father for many years.
Ed was preceded in death by his mother, his father, his step-mother, Kathleen Carol (Kearfott) Craig Newell, and his step-brother, Marc Craig.
He is survived by his sister, Norma (& George) Smoley, brothers Todd Craig, Rodney (& Nora) Craig, and Scott (& Melissa) Craig, several Aunts and Uncles, many cousins and nieces and nephews…..and loved by all.
Ed was the #1 fan of Mountain Dew (the original) and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. He was easy-going, and never wanted to bother or be a burden to anyone. I hope he is doing better than “fair to middlin’” and knows he will be greatly missed.
